France seeks to ban religious expression (mostly)

France wishes to ban the wearing of headscarves by muslim women, the wearing of yarmulkes by Jews and the wearing of "Large" crosses by Christians. Small crosses will, however, be permitted.

It'll never fly, but it gives you an idea how ballsy the French .gov is with individual freedoms. Hmmm, sounds kinda deja vu with the Patriot Act here too doesn't it?

This is absolutely disgusting. What particularly incenses me is the hypocrisy: the fact that "discreet" crosses will still be allowed makes it all too clear that this is nothing more than an attempt coerce Muslims and Jews into giving up their religious identities--because of course if everyone would just shut up and keep their identity to themselves like nice, rational, secular people, then there wouldn't be anything to fight about, right? PUKE. VOMIT. HURL!!!!!
